At Adoption Institute of Colorado (AIC), we offer certified adoption training to prepare families for the unique journey of international adoption. Our programs include Hague International CORE, Domestic Adoption CORE, and Foster Care Adoption training, ensuring that prospective adoptive parents meet all necessary education requirements. CORE Adoption Training (16 hours minimum)

AIC completes this work through individual and group training, online or in-person:

Attachment & Bonding

Loss and grief issues for all parties to the adoption.
Adoption as a life-long issue for all parties to the adoption.
Key concepts of child growth/development.
Parenting a child of a different cultural of racial background, infancy though adulthood.
Understanding adoption laws/procedures, including termination of birth parents rights, the expedited relinquishment process, and administrative notice for presumed birth fathers.

SPECIAL-NEEDS ADOPTION TRAINING (4 hours minimum in addition to Core Training for total of 20-hrs.) Required Reading The Connected Parent by Purvis and Qualls.
INTERCOUNTRY INFANT/CHILD ADOPTION TRAINING (12 additional hours for a total of 28 hours total.

Parenting Classes

We encourages on going parenting education. We offer adoption and special needs parenting classes online, in-person or in a group setting. Contact us for more information about our classes. We strive to be support our families before, during and long after their adoption process.
